The sixth instalment of our ‘Lily Loves’ blogs features the brilliant Chloe Q Studio, a business which was established just over two years ago by the talented Chloe Quinn.
Chloe Quinn is a self-employed professional graphic designer with nearly twenty years of industry experience, who specialises in layout. By way of background, Chloe has always had a passion for art and explained that she has lived her life choosing shoes for their pattern or lining and books based on their front covers. After graduating from the University of Brighton with a Degree in Graphic Design, Chloe landed a job as an inhouse graphic designer for a photography studio, before moving to work for the Manchester Evening News for eight years. This role saw Chloe working on layout, design and typeface for local papers and magazines such as City Life and Urban Life, as well as putting together educational guides, leaflets and magazines for the MEN group.
Chloe’s journey as a self-employed freelance Graphic Designer came about after the birth of her daughter in 2013. Chloe quickly realised the benefits and flexibility that being self-employed offered her whilst raising her daughter and it’s something she continues to do and love to this day!
Chloe’s main focus is to help clients design engaging and eye-catching documents for their businesses. In order to fully understand her clients’ needs and requirements, Chloe takes the time to learn about the individuals and their businesses so that she can truly understand how her skill set can benefit them as. Chloe recognises how essential a professional, slick and striking design is to a business’s credibility. Typically, Chloe’s clients are SMEs whose businesses she truly believes in and, up to now, they have mainly been female entrepreneurs. With this being said, however, she does have larger corporate clients who aren’t female run and owned, so don’t let this stop you from reaching out to her!
Chloe has helped companies get their brand out to a wider audience by creating leaflets, banners and signage, as well as professional documentation such as brochures, proposals, presentations, PDFs and white papers in order to showcase the services that they provide. This allows them to market themselves either by sending out material in the post, emailing out the documentation or featuring it somewhere on their website.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chloe has been extremely busy with clients getting in touch with her in order to switch up the way that they market their business and the services available, due to a lack of face-to-face contact, networking and meetings. With the various restrictions that have been in place over the last seven months or so, companies are relying more on video meetings and introductions and, as such, haven’t felt as though they can really showcase their offerings in a virtual setting as well as they would like. Businesses have quickly realised that having a professional looking PDF document that they can send out to clients can go a long way in helping them to bring onboard new customers and allow them to continue to grow their business during what has been a difficult and unprecedented year.
Chloe is a one-woman band based in Stockport and, due to working remotely, she is able to offer her services not only to people in the local area, but to companies further afield across the UK and even abroad.
Clients that are looking to send out regular mailers or have documents amended or edited can work with Chloe on a retained basis, however, those who will only require her services maybe once or twice a year can be charged per page or per document.
So, what does the future hold for Chloe and Chloe Q Studio? When I spoke to Chloe on the phone she told me about plans to branch out and get her own studio space, with the hope of hiring a permanent member of staff to work alongside her in time.
Chloe has a brilliant eye for detail and consistently creates professional and well thought out documents which really align with a company and their look, feel and brand. She truly cares about getting things right and loves to be able to help businesses showcase their offerings and get their brand out to their target audience.
At Lily Shippen, Chloe is our go to graphic designer for any PDFs that we want to create to send out to both candidates and clients. Each time we have worked with her she has been extremely friendly and professional, has really listened to our needs and brought our vision to life. We are always over the moon with how the finished product looks and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her services to any business, regardless of industry or size!
