Lily Loves: HM Events

The third instalment of our ‘Lily Loves’ blog features a new business which was officially launched in August of this year, HM Events. HM Events is the sister company of Make Events, which was first set up back in 2012 by CEO Holly Moore – the go-to person for corporate events in the North West, as well as further afield. Little do people know, Holly and her team have been arranging private parties, such as birthdays and weddings in the shadows, for around eight years. Due to gaining more traction and enquiries year on year without any advertising, marketing or social media presence as a private party planner, thoughts turned to setting up a separate business specifically for this.

After working on private parties for a number of years in the background, Rosie Griffin had found a huge passion for this side of the business and could see massive potential in it. She ran with the idea, putting together a pitch with the help from the Head of Creative Content, Mark, including strategy, tone of voice, stylisation and branding and went on to present the business plan and brand of ‘HM Events’ to the Holly back in March of this year.

Holly and the team were blown away with the idea and, after some happy tears, it was decided that HM Events would become its own entity and launch as a separate business. Sadly, however, a week later, Boris Johnson and the government gave the nation the dreaded news that the country would be going into lockdown due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this, unfortunately the team couldn’t launch HM Events as early as they would’ve hoped, however, they remained extremely upbeat and knew it wasn’t a case of ‘if’ but ‘when’ they could unveil the new venture.

Fast-forward to a few months later and, when restrictions began to lift, Holly decided that the team would come back fighting stronger and be ready for when people are able to host parties again. HM Events was launched on the 21st August with the slogan #wedomoore.

So, what is it that makes HM Events so special? For one, the team, comprising of Holly, Rosie and Suzanne, are not just your typical ‘event planners’, they really do ‘MOORE’; they are personable, approachable, passionate and extremely knowledgeable. They consider their relationships with clients as more like a friendship and actually refer to what other events companies would term ‘clients’, as ‘friends of HM’.  They listen intently, they have unfaltering energy and people buy into them as people!

With regards to the type of service HM Events provide, they cover anything from housewarming parties for high profile and high-net worth individuals, to birthday parties and even weddings. One of the first events they hosted, within a week of launching, was for Denise Van Outen’s stepdaughter’s 21st birthday party, which was held at their Essex home. The team thought of everything and got to work in their Prop Shop, building bespoke décor items. They also worked closely with the ‘Lucky Pineapple’ bar with specially designed cocktails, a sleepover bell tent, custom balloons and slippers.

Even creating the birthday girl her very own social media GIF!

Since launching, HM Events have had enquiries from all over the world and currently working on plans for some well-known celebrity faces!

HM Events pride themselves on creating events bespoke to the individual(s), exactly how they like it. In order to curate the perfect party, they have an in-house prop shop, where they can build bespoke props specifically for your party and to go alongside a particular theme, should you want one.

Furthermore, as a result of the team’s many years of experience, they bring with them the best of the business in terms of industry connections, from the most sought-after venues, to unique entertainment and on-trend food and drink options. They strive to deliver a seamless party experience from the initial phone call or planning meeting, to when the last guest leaves on the evening, adding their “magic touches” along the way.

HM Events are a team of passionate, creative and extremely talented party planners, designers and visionaries who take something as small as an idea written down on a napkin and run with it, resulting in the most imaginative and unique events where everything from the garnish on the cocktail to the colour of the napkins is carefully considered.

Due to the recent restrictions brought in by the Government in relation to the ‘Rule of 6’, although larger scale parties aren’t currently able to go ahead, HM Events are offering bespoke décor and private dining experiences at home for parties of up to 6 people. However, as soon as these restrictions are lifted, the team will be ready and raring to plan incredible parties of all sizes!

During our conversation, Rosie also kindly shed some light on how to get into a career within events. For anyone who is looking to go down this route, Rosie recommends reaching out to events companies and asking whether you could come onboard to do some work experience within the company to get some hands-on experience. The team at HM Events and Make Events always love to hear from people who are passionate and want to work within the events industry. No degree or qualifications are needed, as long as you have the raw passion and work ethic.

If you are looking for a truly caring, professional and personable team to take control of your special occasion, then we highly recommend getting in contact with the team at HM Events. They can be reached at hello@hmevents.co.uk or you can contact Rosie directly on 07710 514743.
